Maria Kanter
Maria Kanter est doctorante en psychologie à l’université UQAM (DPsy) et offre des services psychothérapeutiques and Français et en Anglais depuis 2019. Elle est née à Montréal, a grandi en France, a vécu en Belgique, et possède plusieurs autres voyages internationaux et expériences dans son parcours. Chacun de ces endroits constitue une petite partie de qui elle est.
Elle a obtenu une maîtrise en psychologie de l’Université McGill avec une spécialisation en thérapie psychodynamique de l’Institut Argyle, et une certification supplémentaire en thérapie cognitivo-comportementale (TCC) de l’Institut Allan. Son doctorat à l’UQAM est concentré sur la TCC et la psychologie humaniste.
Elle a également une maîtrise en éducation et elle a passé presque 10 ans à travailler à l’international en tant que concepteur pédagogique spécialisé dans les initiatives d’amélioration de la performance. Certaines de ces expériences précédentes incluent le travail dans des centres pour jeunes et des écoles en tant que conseillère psychopédagogique.
Son approche thérapeutique est intégrative, collaborative, et basée sur la transparence et l’authenticité. Son objectif est de créer un environnement chaleureux et sécure pour que ces clients puissent explorer qui ils sont, ce qu’ils veulent et ce dont ils ont besoin. Elle a tendance à travailler de manière humaniste avec une influence psychodynamique, mais elle utilise également des outils de thérapie cognitivo-comportementale, des exercices de pleine conscience, de respiration, de visualisation, ainsi qu’une touche d’humour.
Maria travaille avec des adultes présentent divers problématiques, notamment l’anxiété, la dépression, le TDAH, le TOC, les problèmes d’estime de soi, les difficultés interpersonnelles, les traumatismes, LGBT2+, les transitions de vie, la gestion de la colère et du stress, l’orientation et les conflits professionnels, le deuil, le vieillissement, et bien d’autres problèmes.

Maria Kanter is a doctoral candidate in psychology at the university of UQAM (PsyD) and has been offering psychotherapeutic services in English and French since 2019. She was born in Montreal, grew up in France, and lived in Belgium, with several other international travels and experiences along the way. Each of these places make up a small part of who she is.
She acquired her M.A. in Counselling Psychology from McGill in 2019 with a specialization in psychodynamic therapy from the Argyle Institute, and an additional certification in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) from the Allan Institute. Her doctorate at UQAM is focused on CBT and Humanistic psychology.
She also has an M.A. in Educational Technology and spent almost 10 years working internationally as an instructional designer specialized in human performance improvement initiatives. Some of her previous experiences include working in youth centers and schools as a mental health therapist and pedagogical counsellor.
She considers her approach to be integrative, collaborative, and based in transparency and authenticity. Her goal is to create a warm and safe environment for clients to explore themselves (who they are, what they want, and what they need). She tends to work humanistically with some psychodynamic influence, but also uses cognitive behavioural therapy tools, mindfulness, breath, visualization exercises, and a dash of humour.
Maria works with adults that present with varied problems including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, self-esteem issues, interpersonal relationship difficulties, trauma, LGBT2+, life transitions, anger and stress management, professional/career orientation and conflict, grief, aging, and many other issues.
